St. Vincent House Market Street Lynton
EX35 6AF
The house was built in 1834 by Captain Thomas Green, a master mariner, from prize monies he received when fighting alongside Nelson at the Battle of St. Vincent (off the west coast of Portugal).
The hotel retains many original features, including fireplaces and a beautiful Regency staircase.
The bedrooms are all named after victorious battleships from Nelson's fleet: Victory, Irresistible, Colossus, Orion, Blenheim. The ground floor bedroom, Prince George has recently been refurbished.
